ECAs

Today was extremely busy as our ECA programme opened to the students. There was a real buzz of activity across the campus as the children took part in the amazing range of activities.

On a practical note, it’s a good idea to pack a small snack if you are concerned that the children may be hungry during the ECA. This can be eaten before the activities begin. This is especially important for children who will be returning home on the school bus. While the snack shop is open, the 15 minute window between the end of the day and the start of the ECAs means that most children won’t have enough time to get across there, make their purchase and get to their ECA on time.

Also, children who are not attending ECAs should be accompanied by a parent/guardian after 3 pm.

New KS2 House Reps and Captains

Well done to everyone who stood as candidates for the new house rep and house captain positions.

There were some excellent speeches from the candidates, who had clearly spend time thinking carefully about the role and what they would bring to it. As with all elections, there have to be clear winners, and our audiences, who carefully listened to the candidates, chose the following to represent and lead the houses this year.

Improving Playtimes

Since the move to this being a Primary School campus, our students have access to more areas to play in and spend time in during our playtimes. We are constantly looking to improve the play time experience for all of our students, whether they like to spend their time running around, or are after a quieter break.

The Terra Nova, which opened last week, has been a popular addition. We are currently regulating the flow of students within this space to ensure that the children can explore the space and challenge themselves is a safe, controlled environment. Once we know that the students are familiar with the equipment,we will look at opening this space more.

Another area that is new to us is the small quad beside the Drama Studio. We will be working with the students to gather suggestions, with the idea that this will be a more creative space, used for arts, crafts, making/building and drama at playtimes.

We also have a range of playtime toys which will be introduced to the KS2 students over the next few weeks and will be monitored by our Y5 Playtime Activity Leaders.

Keep an eye out for these exciting developments.

Meet the Teacher

Thank you to all of the parents who came along to the Meet the Teacher sessions. It was great to see so many familiar faces,a s well as lots of new parents in attendance. We hope you found these sessions useful in finding out more about the different year groups.

Our Parent Consultation sessions, which are your chance to discuss your child’s progress in more depth will come later this term, after the half term break. These are accompanied by a short report, focusing on their progress in the core subjects of maths and English, as well as their general progress.
