Computer Science/Technology Teacher

  • Period: Full Time
  • Contract: 2 Years
  • Closing date for applications: 12 January 2018

Computer Science is a popular subject at both IGCSE and IB, and we are looking for an experienced and inspiring teacher to join the team. Class sizes are small and the students are motivated and enthusiastic, enjoying a lively approach to the subject through a wide range of teaching and learning techniques. The ideal candidate will convey enthusiasm for the subject and contribute collaboratively in the continued development of the curriculum from Year 7 to Year 13.

All students currently study Computing in Key Stage 3 as part of a new integrated Technology course, with students having two lessons each week and covering topics and skills from Design Technology, ICT and Computing Science. Computer Science is also a growing subject at both IGCSE and as part of the IB Diploma Programme, and previous experience teaching one or both of these courses would be a significant advantage, as well as a commitment to, and experience of, more holistic, STEAM approaches in Key Stage 3.

At St Andrews, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school, and have an excellent reputation for supporting children with special educational needs. Experience of teaching children with dyslexia, mild autism, ADHD etc. would be very good prior experience for a teacher wishing to join our team. Our Mission Statement commits us to meeting ‘all the needs of the individual learner’, and this applies equally to those students targeting the very highest grades at IGCSE and IB.

All Design Technology and ICT/Computing classrooms have data projectors, interactive whiteboards and access to the internet, and there is a strong commitment to integrating the teaching and use of ICT skills into these, and other areas of the curriculum, where appropriate, with laptop carts, iPads and ICT labs bookable when required.

As well as their teaching, all teachers are also expected to contribute positively to both the school’s pastoral systems and the extra-curricular programme, offering an Extra-Curricular Activity that either supports or extends the students’ learning in their subject area, or from another area of personal interest.

St Andrews is committed to ensuring the safety of all our students, and expects all staff to share the same commitment (see our Child Protection Code of Conduct. No teacher will be appointed without at least two references, including one from the most recent employer, a ten year criminal record check and relevant regional Prohibition Order/DBS checks.

If you would like to apply for a position at our school please complete the application process through Jobtrain, accessible via the Nord Anglia Education website.

If you require any further information, please email recruitment@standrews.ac.th">recruitment@standrews.ac.th. The closing date for applications is Friday 12th January 2018, with applications being reviewed as they are received.
