Foundation Stage & Key Stage 1: Mindfulness takes various forms

Mindful Friday returned to Primary School with yoga and break time. Visitors from Kasetsart University toured our school and Year 6 form lasting bonds with our youngest students by helping them develop a love of books and reading.

Last week was a busy and varied one. Mindful Friday was a great success with Ms Jen leading a very popular Yoga session in the Quad. The children were really engaged and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Some of our visitors from Kasetsart University also came along to join in the fun. A big thank you to Ms Jen for coming along to run the session.

Our visitors had a fantastic morning visiting the Foundation Stage classrooms and touring the school.

All of them were experienced educators involved with the Masters Programme at the University so we had some deep discussions about pedagogy. They presented us with a beautiful basket of Thai books as a thank you for hosting the event. A perfect gift as it happens as Mrs Meg explains in her Book Buddies article below.

Book Buddies

There has been a very special bond growing between the oldest children and the youngest children in St Andrews International School Bangkok. Each week a few children from Y6G head down to the Foundation Stage and read books to the Bunnies and the Kittens. They visit the Library to select a book they think the children will love and then share the books helping the children to look at the pictures and enjoy a story. There is usually some time to enjoy the activities afterwards as well and they often stay through break time as they are having so much fun together. This is a wonderful way of helping all the children involved develop personal, social and emotional skills as well as their reading skills as the Y6 children show kindness and understanding and the FS1 children develop confidence to meet older children. As you can see from the photos the children are getting so much from this special friendship.

International Day Primary School Schedule

We have a packed schedule on Friday for our Primary School International Day and hope that many of you will be able to join us for some of it.

There will be three parades or assemblies for you to enjoy:

  • 8.00 a.m. Foundation Stage Parade on the field (weather permitting)

  • 8.30 a.m. Y1-Y3 Assembly featuring music and dance items directed by the teachers - Sports Hall

  • 9.10 a.m. Y4-Y6 Assembly featuring music and dance items directed by the teachers - Sports Hall

  • 10.00 a.m. Cultural Show presented by students and parents - Y6 Quad

  • 11.30 a.m. International Food Hall opens

The children will all be ‘off timetable’ on Friday and enjoying a whirlwind world tour as they join in with a range of exciting international themed activities.

Getting There

Please use our Shuttle bus options on International Day as parking will be very limited and we anticipate a big turn-out. Shuttle services will run as usual from Max Value and Gateway BTS. We will add more buses to the service to cope with the higher demand.

Cars will not be allowed to park anywhere on the roads around Soi 20 and there will be police regulating the traffic flow and clamping vehicles illegally parked.

Give yourselves a little extra time to get to school on Friday, relax and make use of the Park and Ride facility.
