Head’s Lines: It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Christmas celebrations at St Andrews International School Bangkok are just around the corner...NAE Parent Satisfaction Surveys will be sent out very soon...Suk 71 is hopefully relieving the parking challenges at Primary School.

It is really amazing how fast this second half of Term 1 is flying by. We have three weeks left to the end of term and they will be really busy with the Christmas celebrations that will take place in the coming weeks. I am really looking forward to the Christmas productions, particularly in Foundation Stage, Reception and Key Stage 1 along with the Christmas music concerts and fairs which will be held at each campus in the last week of term. Our end of term assemblies will be held on the last day, Friday 14 December, and as has been our tradition in the past, the school will close at 1.00 p.m. for the start of our Christmas vacation.

NAE Parent Satisfaction Survey

Each year the owners of the school, Nord Anglia Education, put out a survey across all the families of their 56 schools asking for feedback from parents about the school their children attend. Parents answer a series of questions about different aspects of the school management and operation, allowing everyone to have an anonymous input into the school community they are part of. Our school has been informed that the parent survey for the year will go live to parents soon. Unlike previous years, this survey will be open for a much longer period of 8 weeks, so hopefully, either before, during or after the holiday, parents will find the time to be able to work their way through the survey. It normally takes no longer than 15 minutes to complete and is in a wide range of languages so hopefully everyone feels they can access it.

This survey will give the school very important feedback on how we are performing in the eyes of our school community and how we can further improve what we are doing to cater to their different and changing needs. I hope that everyone will take the time to complete the survey so we can have a really strong picture of how our school is performing. We can then build this into our development plans for the rest of this year and the next.

The results of the survey will be available in the middle of Term 2 and we will share these with the PTG as in previous years.

Primary Car Parking

Our school has been working hard to try and find more car parking for parents of children who attend our Primary School on Sukhumvit 71. There is now a large car parking area available by Pridi Soi 22 called Suk 71.

Our school name will also be shown indicating that our parents can park for free in this area. One of the school security guards will be there from Monday 26 November, both mornings and afternoons, to help direct parents into parking spaces. It is hoped that parents will use this space and walk the short distance to school and so prevent the congestion that happens in the school car park, particularly at the end of the school day.

Again I ask parents to not park in any of the streets off Soi 20 which will prevent us blocking this residential area. It is a no parking zone at these times and the police are patrolling this area and wheel clamping cars that are parked there. I hope parents needing to park will use this great new space, very close to school, at Suk 71.

As we normally do this time of year, we begin the process of recruiting staff for the start of next academic year. First we have surveyed our own teaching staff to let us know what their plans are for their futures at St Andrews. I am pleased to report that turnover from this year’s wonderful group of teachers is going to be very low. In the near future we shall be advertising a whole range of positions - many of which are sought to increase the number of courses offered in the High School IGCSE and IB curricula, and to support and enhance the specialist subjects taught in the Primary School.
