High School Library: The envelope please...

High School Book Week was once again a big hit with winners to the various contests announced. Oliver Phommavanh visited with KS3 students at STA.

High School Book Week

This year's High School Book Week was another big hit! Special thanks to all of you who have made such an amazing effort throughout the week. Many students participated in contests this year, especially for the Golden Ticket. First thing first: the winners of Book Cover Selfie Contest are Ni (8h) and Talent (9f), who received THB 300 book vouchers and 3 house points.

After trying to find 3 teachers from daily clues and hints in selected books, the winners of the Golden Ticket are Andrew (9h), Gudjung (8h) and Amy (8a), earning 3 house points each.

Our world language teachers encouraged their students to take part in Readers Book Club and submit their book reviews and drawings to the library which were arranged on the new display section as well as on the big table. It is a pleasure to see such diverse styles of book reviews from all different languages taught in our school. Please come have a look when you have time as they will be displayed until the end of term.

If you have not submitted your artwork for the Library Logo Contest and the Bookmark Designing Contest, we have decided to extended the deadline until the end of this year. The winning logo and bookmarks will be printed and used in school. Winners will be awarded 3 house points and book vouchers and the winning House will be given 10 house points. In addition, all participants will be given 1 house point.

The Simon Lawrence Library would like to express our gratitude to all of you who made an effort support a successful and festive High School Book Week. Should you have any suggestions or recommendations for the next Book Week, please feel free to contact the Simon Lawrence Library at libraryhs@standrews.ac.th">libraryhs@standrews.ac.th.

Author Visit - Oliver Phommavanh

Last Friday Oliver Phommavanh, a Thai-Australian comedian and former teacher, visited our school to meet with KS3 students. He led 3 writing workshops with our children, providing them with useful tips on how to improve their writing skills. Students were very impressed with his presentation. Should you wish to learn more about Oliver, his story and books, please visit his website - http://www.oliverwriter.com.
