Welcome to the Primary Book Week! There is certainly lots going on this week to celebrate and encourage reading across the Primary School. This is always a very enjoyable week where everyone gets the opportunity to read their favourite stories and enjoy the books their friends really like too. On Friday we have the brilliant Book Character Parade where the whole Primary School comes dressed as different book characters. It is always a really entertaining show with a huge array of characters on display.
Also on Friday will be the STA Bake-Off which proved to be very popular last year and certainly has had a huge amount of interest this year. There promises to be some real treats on offer for the judges during Friday and some very difficult decisions to make.
End of Term 2 Songkran Festival
The last day of Term 2 is Thursday 5 April. This year we will have a blessing and offer alms to Monks from two local temples prior to having a final end of term traditional Songkran assembly. This will be a good way to finish this incredibly busy term with our school community having the opportunity to come together to join in the merit making.
This will be a fantastic event held at the High School during the weekend of 31 March and 1 April. There will be a large number of international schools attending with over 700 swimming participating in this event. There will be lots of fun and exciting competition to enjoy throughout the two-day meet. I know many people are working hard to put the finishing touches to make this a truly special event.
Our Under 13 STA Flames & Marlins had excellent results during the FOBISIA Games last week where they challenged the top British international schools across Asia. The event was a great showcase for our students’ teamwork, sportsmanship and competitive spirit.
STA Marlins swimmers took 3rd place overall in their heats, while our Flames track and field athletes lit the course on fire with some real standout individual performances. Our Basketball and Football teams more than made an impression with their unique blend of athletic prowess and steely determination, with our girls football seizing 2nd place and the girls basketball team slamming home a top-three result. Not to be outdone, the boys basketball and football teams walked away as the championships of their respective competitions. All in all, we should be proud of the way all of our teams represented St Andrews, and I, for one, can’t wait to see how we build on this success on the international stage in the future.
