Foundation Stage & Key Stage 1: Transitions to and from Early Years settings

STA hosted a Bangkok Early Years Network Meeting over the weekend in a collaboration with other teachers at Bangkok international schools.

St Andrews play host to the Bangkok Teacher Network Early Years Group

As you can imagine, last week was quite intense as the staff across school all focused on making sure we demonstrated to our EDT visitors the outstanding nature of the provision we offer to our students. It was also the week that we were chosen to host the Saturday Morning Bangkok Teachers Early Years Network Meeting so a particularly busy week for some.

Year 7s and Year 2s working together

“You are never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child!” - Dr Seuss

A group of Y7 students had just finished their Literature Unit of work and came over to Y2 to share some of their stories with the children. The authors then discussed with their partners what they liked about the stories they shared.

As Ms Lauren explains, the High School students wanted to share their books with us and we were so excited – we love story books! Y2 were absolutely enthralled by the stories, we thoroughly enjoyed listening to the Y7’s and watching their characters come to life (a particular favourite was Ducky!).

The storylines were exciting, the illustrations captivating and the Y7’s read with such great expression – it was a wonderful morning.

Y2 would like to say another big thank you to Y7 and Miss Alia for coming across to see us – we hope you come and visit us again soon!

Always Reading Caravan

A big THANK YOU to the St Andrews community. If you remember back to the end of term 2 there was a lot of reading going on by all the students in the school. The total has finally come in and we raised a massive 120,969.30 Baht.

This is how Yoshi responded to the news of the total:

“Wow, that's beyond surprise! You have raised nearly 10% of our entire annual budget in just a few weeks. Of course, I know that the money comes from all the STA community, and I don't take it for granted at all. I still cannot believe that, even though we're a small organisation, you all trust us and have faith in us. Please give big big thanks to all your community members.” Ms Yoshi

Yoshi has invited Ms Meg to her project in Chiang Mai and if you are interested in visiting there or becoming a member you can get in touch via her website.
