PTG: Calling all parents for the Week of Work

Parents are encouraged to participate in our High School’s Careers Day on 7 June. Details about our Facebook page and the Summer Party illustrate ways in which we are working to strengthen the community at St Andrews International School Bangkok.

Week of Work (WoW)

Everyone will have received an email from Mr. Bevin outlining a Careers Day at High School on 7 June 2018. The aim is to guide our Year 10 students in their thinking for the future and subject choices for IB and tertiary education.

Our community here at St Andrews International School Bangkok is made up of people with such a wide range of professions and experience that we really hope we can support Mr. Bevin in this great initiative and offer a Careers Day showcasing all the opportunities available to our senior students.

If you could spare some time on 7 June, please get in touch with Mr. Bevin directly (bevin.cl@stnadrews.ac.th).  Your help in this will be much appreciated and is yet another example of the supportive parents and sense of community that we have at our school.

Summer Party

As already mentioned in previous newsletters, the PTG Summer Party will be held on Friday 15 June 2018 at Viva Thonglor – a fantastic location on Thonglor between soi 19 and soi 21.  There will be food, drink and music - the perfect combination for a fantastic celebration of another great year at St Andrews International School Bangkok. More details coming soon but put the date in your diary.  This is an event not to be missed.

PTG Facebook Group

Don’t forget we have a very lively Facebook page where you can keep up with everything that is going on at school but also you can use it as a means to get in touch with other people. This is just one of the many ways that the PTG is working to strengthen our school community.

Lost and Found

Lost and Found at Primary is getting overloaded.  We will be organizing a “Reclaim Day” where everything will be made available for you to pass by, have a look at what there is and take anything that is yours. Once this has been done, anything that has been in Lost and Found for longer than 2 months will be given to charity.

New Shuttle Bus service for Primary School

The PTG would like to remind all Primary parents about the new shuttle bus service from MaxValu on soi Pridi to the Primary School. This new service is part of our school’s ongoing effort to improve efficiency, reduce overall travelling time, and provide alternative parking for Primary School parents to reduce congestion during peak pick-up and drop-off times.

Please take a look at the approximate departure times servicing this car park but also remember that these times are subject to the sometimes unpredictable Bangkok traffic patterns.

If you park for more than 2 hours you will require a stamp which can be collected at the Primary School office .

This new arrangement with MaxValu is an excellent alternative for drivers. There are air-conditioned waiting areas as well as coffee shops and it is not too far from school for them to come and collect you from the drop-off area once you are ready to leave the school grounds. Please encourage your drivers to use this car park rather than waiting in the school car park with their engines idling. Engine idling has been an issue of growing concern for many parents and the PTG has been working closely with school to find solutions to the problem.

As always, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any suggestions, questions or concerns. The easiest way to reach us is by email on ptgchair@standrews.ac.th or many of us are around in the mornings both at Primary and High School and you are welcome to have a chat at any time.
