High School: “We are a family, welcoming new members and supporting each other.”

What a great first day of the school year. It has been great to see how all the students and teachers have settled so quickly back into school life, and walking around during our new split lunchtime and this afternoon it was almost impossible to tell that it was the first day of a new school year.

This morning we welcomed 200 new students, Year 7 and thirty new teachers and LSAs to the High School in our first High School Assembly of the new school year. As you can see on the photo above, our August Monthly Theme, “We are a family, welcoming new members and supporting each other”, was a very important part of the Assembly, and it has been great to see returning students helping new students to both find their way around the school and settle in throughout the day. You can see the poster, that is in every classroom in the High School below.

Below are some highlights of this term’s High School Calendar, including the forthcoming Parents' Information Evenings and the dates of this term’s Grade Reports and Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings.

In these Parents’ Information Evenings we will be able to give both new and returning parents a great deal of information about life in the High School, and answer any questions that you have, as well as giving parents an opportunity to meet their son/daughter’s Tutor.

These Information Evenings will also include information about using Moodle, but for any new parents, or returning parents who have further questions about the use of Moodle, Mr Keith, our Director of Learning Technologies, will be running drop-in Moodle Workshops from 8 am onwards on Thursday 23 August and Tuesday 28 August 2018.

In next week’s Newsletter I, will include a full calendar for what is going to be another very busy term in the High School. Have a great term!
