Welcome back after what I hope has been a very relaxing holiday, and welcome to St Andrews if you are a new family joining us for the first time. It was amazing to see all of the happy faces outside of the R building and in the Year 6 quad- both students and parents- waiting to meet the new teachers and new classmates. There was lots of busy activity taking place in all of the classrooms and already there are signs of what an exciting, fun-filled year this will be.
As well as the physical changes that have taken place across the Primary campus, we have welcomed some new additions to the teaching team across KS2. In Year 3 we have a new Year Leader, Mrs Jo, who has moved across from Reception, and has also worked in Years 1 & 2. In the same team we also have new additions in Mr Ross, who joins us from another International School in Bangkok, and Mr Nick, who is new to Thailand, having worked in schools in the UK. We have two new team members in Year 4, Mr Sam and Mrs Sam (not related), both of whom have had positions in International Schools before, as well as working in the UK. In Year 5 we have the returning Mr Neill and a new teacher- Mr Danny. He has previously worked in an International school in Thailand and has most recently been working in the UK. The new addition in Year 6 is Ms Selina, who is moving across from Year 5.
Upcoming events
Meet the Year Group
You will have an opportunity to find out more about your children’s new Year Group next week in our ‘Meet the Year Group’ sessions. These take place on Tuesday 28th August for Years 3 & 4 and on Thursday 30th August for Years 5 & 6. This is a chance for you to find out more about the curriculum your children will be studying over the next school year and the expectations and routines within each Year Group.
Meet the Teacher
In the week beginning Monday 3rd September, you will have the opportunity to have a quick face to face meeting with your children’s new class teachers. This is a chance to find out how they have settled into the new academic year and to share any information that you feel is important to ensure their progress in the year ahead. The teachers will individually invite you to make an appointment.
Bug Club Training
Across the Primary school, we use Bug Club, an online reading scheme to help boost the children’s reading skills and develop their love of reading. There will be a session to introduce this scheme to new families which will take place on Friday 31st August at 8.30 am in the Drama Studio.
