External Examination results
During the third term of last year our graduating Class of 2018 took their final examinations, the academic backbone of which is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. This is an externally examined two-year course of study which is internationally recognised as a pathway into universities around the world and is well respected for its high academic achievement. The results from this year’s graduating class have now been published and we offer our congratulations to all of our graduates on their achievements. There were some really fantastic individual results, more details of which will be given by Mr Roo in the High School section of this Newsletter.
Last year’s Year 11 students sat their GCSE/IGCSE external examinations during the course of term 3. These are two-year courses of study in a wide range of subjects offered as part of our programme. In Year 9 each student chooses the courses that best fits his or her interests and career aspirations and then studies these courses through Years 10 and 11. At the end of Year 11 they sit externally set and marked exams just Like the International Baccalaureate Programme and the results have now been received in school. Last year’s Year 11, our current Year 12, did exceptionally well gaining our highest ever pass rate for high A-C passes. Congratulations to all of our students who sat these examinations at the end of last academic year. Again, Mr Roo has more details in the High School section of the Newsletter.
Car Parking and traffic
Thank you to our parents who have started using the MaxValu shuttle bus option for accessing the Primary School. More and more parents are making use of our free shuttle buses and this is helping to alleviate the pressure that has been felt in the Primary School’s main car park.
There will continue to be no parking along soi 20 and its sub-sois. I ask parent to observe this order we have received from the police so we can keep disturbances to this neighbourhood to a minimum before and after school.
PTG “New to Bangkok” coffee morning
Our PTG Committee is launching a new coffee morning aimed at helping new families in our STA community to settle into life in Bangkok. It will take place on Thursday, 30 August 2018 starting at 08.15 a.m. in the Drama Studio at the Primary School and all parents from both Primary and High School are welcome to attend. Even if you are not new to our community, please come along and help new families integrate. The goal is for new parents to have a chance to meet people and ask any questions they have, not necessarily school-related but also about where to live, the best places to shop, things to do at the weekend…. The list goes on and on. Please do pop along to the Drama Studio on Thursday, grab a coffee and help strengthen our great St Andrews community.
