Foundation Stage & Key Stage 1: Maths revisited

Year 1 parents learn about the maths homework that their children will be bringing home soon... Fun Day is upon us so read on for some important information about parking for the day... Parents are also reminded to keep their children at home if they are unwell.

Year 1 Maths Homework Meeting

Year 1 held a very interactive Maths Meeting last week, with parents being invited in to play some of the games that the children will be bringing home over the next few weeks. The games will focus on the basicskills and be a great introduction to maths homework.

Well Child Policy

A number of staff and students have been sick over recent weeks with coughs, cold and in some cases Influenza.  All areas of the school have had a rolling programme of Deep Cleaning and where we have a number of cases in a year group this Deep Clean is repeated. Teachers are vigilant and send children to the nurse when they see that they are unwell, and show them how to cough and sneeze without spreading germs to their friends.

A reminder however of our Well Child Policy: if your child is showing symptoms such as fever or a runny nose, please don’t give them medicine to allow them to get through the school day.  Keep them home until they are feeling better. This way all the other students and their teachers stay healthy and ready for learning.

Fun Day

Finally Fun Day has arrived! Next Saturday (2 February) at 11.00 a.m. we will open our doors to the St Andrews International School Bangkok Community and enjoy a huge range of rides, activities, food and vendors until late afternoon. Anyone who has attended a previous Fun Day will tell you that this is one day on the school calendar not to be missed.

To ease the traffic flow around school please leave the car at home and use the shuttle services from the Ekamai BTS and Max Value.

ECAs & Sports Training Cancelled this Friday

To help preparations for Fun Day run safely and smoothly, all ECAs and sport training that normally take place at the Primary campus on Friday afternoons have been cancelled this week. Please ensure that your children are collected promptly at 2.30 p.m.

Final Call for the White Elephant Stall

The White Elephant stall is making a final call for donations. Please go through your cupboards and bring in any once-loved items that are looking for a new home.

Please bring your donations and put them into the House Boxes you can see around school. Attach your child’s name, class and House to earn some house points too. The money from this stall will go to a worthy charity - details to follow.

Fun Day Raffle Tickets

You should have received a book of raffle tickets last week for our Grand Funday Raffle.

Every year there are fabulous prizes to be won and this year is no different. Tickets are 50B each or 500B for the book. Money and ticket stubs should be returned to the Accounts Office along with any unwanted tickets that can then be resold. If you need more books these can also be collected from the Office.

Fun Day is the only fund-raising event for our PTG and the sale of raffle tickets is a big part of that. Please do sell as many tickets as you can to help our PTG continue to support our community.

Eco-Beasts Community Action Day - Inspiring Child Led Environmental Change

Some of you might have seen Mr Ewen’s article in the Bangkok Post about the successful Eco-Beast Day that was recently hosted by school.  If you haven’t and would like to, here is the link.

An appeal to all car drivers

Everyone in Bangkok is acutely aware of the pollution problems that the city is experiencing, and we explained last week about the way we manage this in school regarding break times. Surprisingly, this important community concern has not filtered through to some users of our car parks and we are still finding cars that are idling whilst waiting for students to come out of school.

Could we please make a renewed plea for everyone to talk to their family drivers and ask them to please turn off engines whilst waiting to pick up children? We understand that getting into a hot car is not pleasant, but it only takes a minute or two for the aircon to work its magic. Better that than adding to the air pollution around school.
