Primary School Music: Incredible auditions

The Primary Music Department at St Andrews International School Bangkok announces the names of the students who will be performing in the House Talent Showcase on Fun Day. Read on for some exciting musical visitors heading our way as well as some important dates for your musical diaries.

House Talent Show - Audition Results

We had a very exciting week in the Music Department watching some incredible auditions ranging from mathematical memorisation to reading, to junk modelling, dance and music. It was great seeing the children taking this opportunity to express their individuality, build their confidence and contribute to their Houses’ points. We hope this has inspired some of the children who didn’t take part this time to take the opportunity to get involved when it comes to House Music Competition time in Term 3.

Exciting visits coming up from Juilliard

We are very happy to be welcoming back our Music Curriculum Specialist from Juilliard, Kathryn Andersen. She will be in school on Wednesday 30 January working with teachers and children throughout the day. This is a chance for our children to meet a Juilliard representative who is a fantastic Violinist, to take part in some great lessons with her and for our teachers to explore a range of themes that will help develop our curriculum, pedagogy and experiences for the children.

Flute Visitors from the UK

On 7th and 8 February we look forward to a special visit from British flautists Sarah Newbold and Elisabeth Dooner. These wonderful musicians and teachers bring with them a wealth of experience from orchestral playing with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and The Academy of St Martin in the Fields, high level college teachers at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and The Guildhall School of Music in London. They also offer expert knowledge of Dalcroze eurhythmics and body mapping to help our young woodwind players to get to grips with breathing and posture.

During their two day visit, they will work with Year 5 new woodwind players, Reception classes and Year 2, as well as performing in a special assembly. We very much look forward to their visit.
