Welcome back after what I hope was a very relaxing Christmas break. The holiday provided a fantastic opportunity to reflect on the busy first term, which was rounded off with our Christmas celebrations, which included the Christmas Fair, which was even bigger and better than ever before and raised over 50,000 Baht for Operation Smile.
There was a lovely buzz in the air this morning as everyone returned after the holiday and we welcomed some new families who have joined our community. This term will provide just as many exciting opportunities for the children, which includes the KS2 residential trips.

Tiger Conservation Day
This Friday, the children will be visited by representatives of The World Wildlife Fund in Thailand (WWF), who will talk to us about conservation in general, but specifically about Thailand’s endangered tiger population. To raise the profile of this event, we are inviting staff and students to come to school wearing ‘tiger themed’ clothes. That might just mean wearing orange and black or something more creative!
We ask that children donate 20-50 baht on this day, the money going to the World Wildlife Fund in Thailand to support their local projects.
Moodle Workshop for New Parents
To support new families especially, Mr Keith, our Director of Learning Technologies, will be running a workshop for parents to explain Moodle, our online learning platform. This meeting will be held on Thursday 17 January at 7.45 a.m. in the Library Classroom. It will last around 30 minutes and will explain how to navigate around the system. There will also be members of the senior team at the meeting to answer any general questions.
The meeting is of course open to anyone who would like to find out more about using Moodle.
Mindful Self-Compassion - Free 2 hour Workshop
Last academic year we began an association with Siri Chandler and Masooma Kachelo who came into school to work with teachers and students on Mindfulness in Education. This successful programme will be run again this year by newly trained St Andrews teachers.
Siri will be returning to St Andrews International School Bangkok in January to a free 2-hour workshop for parents, with a focus of mindful self compassion. (https://centerformsc.org/learn-msc/)
The workshop will be held on Friday 11 January at our Primary School - R Block 7th floor, starting at 08.30 a.m.
If you would like to attend this workshop, kindly register here. The course is open to non-STA attendees but they must exchange ID at the security gate to be allowed access to the campus.
House Talent Show - Showcase of Winners on Fun Day
It is time to show just how talented our STA students are!
To take part, the students should prepare a short item that shows off their talent. This could be poetry reading, music, drama, dance, art, comedy, magic or any other skill that your child would like to share. Please bear in mind the audience when preparing so that the talent is presented in an interesting and entertaining way!
The auditions will take place during music lessons in the week beginning 21st January. Your child should plan, rehearse and be prepared to show their talent during that week. If their music lesson is on a Monday they must be ready on Monday!
ALL AUDITIONS WILL RECEIVE 2 HOUSE POINTS!!!
Please could you help your child to prepare for this by supporting him/her in their practicing and letting them perform to you as a pretend show. Through this support your child will feel more confident, prepared and excited about auditioning in class.
The winners will be announced the following week and all winners should be ready to perform in a Talent Showcase on Fun Day, Saturday 2nd February!
Please encourage your child to take part in this opportunity to develop their performance and presentation skills, as well as supporting their house!
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
