A Christmas Carol

Drama: Christmas came early!

A Christmas Carol was an exceptional journey through the past, present and future.

Wednesday saw the culmination of 3 months of hard work when the cast and directors of A Christmas Carol performed to parents and students from both the Primary and High Schools.

This performance was designed to give younger students an opportunity to participate in something they love and something they can be proud to be a part of and the dedication and the enjoyment of the cast members was clear for everyone to see. Students were expected to work as an ensemble to develop their scenes and this teamwork was apparent both on and off stage. It was great to see the students bonding behind the scenes, sharing activities together and rehearsing their pieces. We are very grateful to our Year 10, 12 and 13 directors and designers who have really led the way and have been great role models for our younger performers.

The show was performed in the Theatre as well as in promenade, so during the production, the audience followed the performers around the Drama Studios, with different Drama Studios representing Scrooge’s past, present and future, each with its own storyline and atmosphere created through innovative use of lighting and set.

I think that everyone who saw the show would agree that our young performers were outstanding in their adoption of different roles and their focus on stage. We are very proud of them for their commitment and support of one another and so should their parents be. In the words of Tiny Tim ‘A Merry Christmas to us all; God bless us, everyone’.

Students also had an opportunity to show their respect and gratitude to others in the cast by writing a positive message and hanging it on our message tree. It was great to see students truly appreciating each other and sharing their thoughts so beautifully.
