I mentioned this year’s Tanzania Expedition in last week’s Newsletter, and the students, and Ms Claire and Ms Sammy, are now in Tanzania, with Ms Claire’s group hard at work, and play (see above), building a new Primary School and Ms Sammy’s group heading straight to Tarangire National Park on safari. You can see regularly updated photos from both groups on the school’s Facebook page. Soon after they return we will be launching next year’s Tanzania Expedition, available to current Year 9 and 11 students, as well as our first ever NAE Snowsports Expedition to Switzerland…
Some people do not know that the Swahili word safari simply means journey, originally from the Arabic سفر (safar), rather than being specific to a journey to see animals in their natural habitats.
Last week students were “on safari’ in Khao Yai National Park on the Year 10 Geography Field Trip, at Regents for a Year 12 Thai Literature Workshop (see below) and represented St Andrews at the KPIS Music Challenge.
This week Year 9 Thai students visit Pathum Thani and students are representing St Andrews at the FOBISIA Golf Tournament at Black Mountain Golf Club, a STEM Competition at Regent’s, the Under 13 and Under 15 3 on 3 Basketball Tournaments in Phuket, the BISAC Swimming Championships at Harrow, the BISAC Under 15 Tennis Tournament and the FOBISIA Tennis Tournament in Delhi, India, and we have many even more opportunities for students to extend their learning beyond the classroom planned in the weeks between now and Songkran.
STOP PRESS: Four more St Andrews Safaris coming soon - our rearranged House Athletics. Dates are shown on the Calendars below and online.
