Welcome to Ms Yoshi  - our friend from the Bookwork Foundation

This week, Ms Yoshi from the Bookworm Foundation will be at St Andrews International School Bangkok (Primary School) working with all the children and talking to them about the joy of reading as well as the challenges facing children with vision impairment. They will also learn about braille.

On Friday, 22 March we have a great opportunity for parents to get involved and really make a difference. Ms Yoshi will give a presentation to parents about the work of the Bookworm Foundation and more specifically a project to produce 200 tactile books to make stories and reading more accessible to children with vision impairment. Parents are invited to help make the different components of the books. All materials will be provided, along with instructions on how to do it.

Here are a couple of examples of what we will be doing.

The presentation will be at 09.00 a.m. on the 5th floor of the T block (Key Stage 1 building). The hands-on work will start after the presentation and will run until lunch time. Parents can stay for as much time as they have to give. Refreshments will be provided and in order to ensure that we have enough for everybody, could you kindly complete this very short survey to indicate if you can join us. If you enjoy spending time doing craft work, this event is for you. We look forward to seeing you there.

Year 4 Music Concerts

Last week, Year 4 had a chance to display all of the hard work that has gone into their music lessons over the school year. Over the course of the year, Mrs Alice, Mrs Marie and Mr Nick have been introducing the classes to a variety of instruments - ukulele, keyboard, recorder and percussion - in order to help prepare them when they move onto the instrumental programme next year in Year 5. The children did a great job, showcasing their singing and playing with a number of different pieces, some of which they composed themselves. We hope the parents all enjoyed the shows.

Primary Golf

Well done to the Primary children who took part in the FOBISIA golf tournament at Black Mountain - Leely, Fahsai, Pun Pun and JJ. The children did a fantastic job representing themselves and proving themselves to be capable golfers and winning the team score competition. As a result of her performance, Leely will be moving forward to take part in the Asian finals. You can read more about this event in the Primary sports section.
