Key Stage 2: Bringing characters to life at Primary

Year 6 students donned capes and masks to create their own STEAM cities, while also putting on some wonderful displays of performing arts talents during the Year 6 Expo...This Friday visiting author Karin Littlewood will be hosting a workshop to help enhance the love of reading in children... Book Week is upon us and that means the Book Week Parade is this Friday...The Grand Raffle Draw is scheduled for the 5th of April.

Y6 Superhero Day and Expo

Last week was very busy in Year 6. On Wednesday the quad looked like a page out of a Marvel comic book with all of the students and teachers coming dressed as their own superhero. There were capes and masks galore as the children started the day with a Superhero parade before going back to their classes and getting STEAMy by building their own Superhero cities.

On Friday, the parents and the rest of the year groups across Primary were invited to come along and share the Y6 students work from across the year in their Expo. This was a lovely event including dances, gymnastics and some beautiful singing as well as examples of the children's artwork, writing and other bits and bobs form across the school year.

Book Week Parade

As always, during this week the children will take part in a wide range of activities and competitions based around books. The week will finish on Friday 29 March with our annual Book Character parade.  The parades take place in the morning with the Foundation Stage Parade from 8.00 a.m., followed by the KS1 parade at around 8.30 a.m

We are really looking forward to seeing all the fantastic book character costumes that the children wear for the parade. There are some prizes for creativity, but judges will be looking in particular for costumes that are homemade and where the children have had a part in the ‘making’.

Grand Raffle Draw

The Raffle that was postponed due to the cancellation of Fun Day will take place on the last day of this term at the first Songkran Assembly at Primary School. The top 5 prizes, which include an iPhone and a laptop, will be announced at the Songkran assemblies on both campuses on 5 April.

All proceeds from the raffle go to the PTG, which supports various student projects throughout the year. In the past, they have provided funding for Prom (both Y12 and Y6), carnival game gifts for school or charity events, and the drinks sold by students as part of their fundraising activities for Tanzania. They have offered the use of their chocolate fountain and they now have two popcorn machines. They are sponsoring sustainable water bottles for an upcoming Model United Nations event held at STA. In addition, they present a gift to each member of the graduating class. and we organize the Summer Party.

This is why they are asking for your help for this year’s raffle in particular. They have lost their main source of funding for this year – Fun Day – so the raffle is their only way of raising money to support student activities and community-building events.

Your support is much appreciated.

Please write your child’s name and tutor group on the tickets. The numbers of the remaining prizes (plenty of vouchers) will be posted in writing at both school offices and in the first Newsletter of Term 3.

Good luck and thank you.
