PTG: Have to be in it to win it

The Grand Raffle draw will take place at assembly on the last day of this term. Please buy as many tickets as you can as there are some amazing prizes on offer. There will be a sales of second-hand uniform at both Primary School and High School as well as the chance to reclaim any lost property. Parents and teachers are invited to get together on Friday evening at Wishbeer, Sukhumvit 67, to celebrate another great term at St Andrews International School Bangkok. Parents of teenagers are invited to a Workshop at High School on the topic of substance abuse and finally, if you are interested in being a part of this dynamic group of volunteer parents, there will be places available on the Committee next academic year.

Grand Raffle Draw

The Raffle that was postponed due to the cancellation of Fun Day will take place on the last day of this term at the first Songkhran Assembly at Primary School. The top 5 prizes, which include an iPhone and a laptop, will be announced at the Songkran assemblies on both campuses on 5 April.

All proceeds from the raffle go to the PTG, which supports various student projects throughout the year. In the past we have provided funding for Prom (both Y12 and Y6), carnival game gifts for school or charity events, and the drinks sold by students as part of their fundraising activities for Tanzania. We’ve offered the use of our chocolate fountain and we now have two popcorn machines. We are sponsoring sustainable water bottles for an upcoming Model United Nations event held at STA. We present a gift to each member of the graduating class. And we organize the Summer Party.

This is why we’re asking for your help for this year’s raffle in particular. We have lost our main source of funding for this year – Fun Day – so the raffle is our only way of raising money to support student activities and community-building events.

Your support is much appreciated!

Please write your child’s name and tutor group on the tickets. The numbers of the remaining prizes (plenty of vouchers) will be posted in writing at both school offices and in the first Newsletter of Term 3.

Good luck and thank you!

Second-hand Uniform Sale and Lost and Found Reclaim

This week we will hold a sale of second-hand uniform at High School on Thursday and at Primary School on Friday from 07.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. on both days. This is a great opportunity to pick up some real bargains on good quality second-hand uniform. Proceeds from the sale of second-hand uniform are donated to Uniforms4Good, part of the Baan Dek Foundation.

Also on both days you will have a chance to look through all the Lost Property we have and reclaim anything that’s yours. Anything that is not reclaimed will be given to charity.

At the end of this PTG term, three people will be standing down - the Chairperson and two other members. We are looking for parents who would like to get involved with the community-building work carried out by this dynamic group of people. Bookworm Foundation Parent Workshop

Last week, Ms Yoshi from the Bookworm Foundation was at the Primary School working with all the children and talking to them about the joy of reading as well as the challenges facing children with vision impairment. They will also learn about braille.

On Friday, a group of enthusiastic parents got involved and really made a difference. Ms Yoshi gave a presentation to parents about the work of the Bookworm Foundation and more specifically a project to produce 200 tactile books to make stories and reading more accessible to children with vision impairment. Parents then helped make the different components of the books. Thank you to everyone who took part. The books, once completed, will be sold in Europe to raise money for the Foundation.

The presentation will be at 09.00 a.m. on the 5th floor of the T block (Key Stage 1 building). The hands-on work will start after the presentation and will run until lunch time. Parents can stay for as much time as they have to give.

Refreshments will be provided and in order to ensure that we have enough for everybody, could you kindly complete this very short survey to indicate if you can join us.

If you enjoy spending time doing craft work, this event is for you. We look forward to seeing you there.

Coffee and chat # 4

Our popular “Coffee and Chat” sessions in High School continue and the fourth one was  held on Monday, 25. Parents were able to chat to PTG Committee members and raise any issues of concern.
