High School: We have self-respect and self-esteem

It’s April, and time for another new monthly theme for the last week of Term 2.

It is always interesting to compare the monthly themes, taken from our What Makes a Great St Andrews Community? Document, written by the High School students almost three years ago, with our Mission Statement. This month’s monthly theme - We have self-respect and self-esteem - really seems to fit with “Students are inspired to be the best they can be”.

The phrase “be the best they can be” is one of the more recent additions to our Mission Statement, replacing “achieve their full potential” to reflect both our continuing emphasis on Growth Mindsets and a more holistic interpretation - we want our students to be the best footballers, musicians and friends they can be, not just achieve the best exam results that they can get, and our continuous development of our ECA programme is a big part of this.

One of the new ECAs this year Aikido, offered by Mr Gray, pictured above with Manon and Julia (Year 12), who after 15 hours of training assessed excellently in their first grading to achieve their Orange belts - the school’s first. I am sure that this has enhanced Manon and Julia’s self-respect and self-esteem, and hope that your sons and daughters have chosen ECAs for Term 3 that will enhance theirs too.

Leavers’ Survey

Thank you to all those families who have already completed the Leavers Survey that was sent out by our Admissions Department earlier this term.

If you have not already done so, we would appreciate your response as soon as possible. Work is already underway to ensure that our classes for next year are balanced and will give every student the best possible learning experience, with our Admissions Team knowing how many new families we will be able to welcome into our community. Please complete this Google Survey as soon as possible.
