Key Stage 2: So much to look forward to in Term 3

We had a fun-filled (and very wet) end to Term 2  and Term 3 is bursting at the seams with action for all our KS2 students.

Welcome back to Term 3

We hope that you all had a relaxing break and have managed to dry out if you were involved in the Songkran celebrations. It was a very busy morning in KS2 as friends caught up after a two-week break and the children all set about starting their new topics in class. This term Year 3 will be learning all about Rainforests, Year 4 will be tickling their taste buds with their topic on chocolate, Year 5 are going back in time to Ancient Rome and Year 6 are learning about tourism in Thailand. We have an incredibly busy term ahead with lots of events taking place every week. Please check the list of dates at the end of this section to make sure you don’t miss out on anything that’s coming up.

Songkran Celebrations

The end of Term 2 is always one of our favourites as it means we are treated to the Songkran celebrations, which includes our assemblies in the morning and a chance to cool off with the water play in the afternoon. This year’s assemblies, led by some of our KS2 students, were a celebration of Thai culture in the North East and included some amazing dancing and a superb ‘Molam’ version of the disco classic ‘I Will Survive’ sung beautifully by Eames and Alesha (Y6). The teachers and children all enjoyed the chance to bless each other for the New Year during the water play later on in the afternoon.

Monday Timetables

As we lose quite a few Mondays this coming term, we have decided to run two days using the Monday timetable. This will happen across both campuses and ensures that children don’t miss out lessons which take place on Mondays. This will apply to lesson time only. Our ECA program will run as normal on these days due to the involvement of outside providers who cannot easily change their schedules. The Monday timetable will run on the following days:

  • Wednesday 8 May
  • Thursday 23 May

Children will need to come prepared for the Monday timetable on these days, which may mean that they need to pack their PE kit, swimming kit or bring their musical instrument (Y5 & 6) for that day.

Reports and Parents Consultations

There was a slight delay in publishing the Term 2 reports, but these have been available to view on Moodle since Saturday 6 April. As always, parents will have a chance to meet with the class teachers starting tomorrow after school and continuing next week (23 and 30 April).

If you haven’t done so already, you can use the links in the first table below to request a time slot for the appointments. Confirmed appointments can be seen using the links in the second table. As always, the teachers may be available to meet outside of the appointed days, but you will need to liaise directly with them to arrange a day and time.

*If you are unable to make an appointment that you’ve requested, please contact the teachers directly at the earliest opportunity.
