White Elephant
The money from the White Elephant stall has now been counted and we are pleased to announce that we raised 21,000 baht from all the donations of pre-loved toys, games, clothes and books.
This money will be donated to the Baan Dek Lek Orphanage where it will be used to create a new playground for the children who live there. Once we have photographs of the work in progress we will of course share them with you.
Read-a-thon
We have also totalled the money raised by our Read-a-thon that was held during Book Week. Following the interest that was sparked in the children by the visit of Yoshi, our friend from the Bookworm Foundation, and the interest of the parents who attended her workshop, our Read-a-thon to raise funds for their special reading projects was a huge success. Over 50.000 baht was raised for this worthy cause. Late donations are still being accepted so if your sponsorship form didn’t yet get returned, please take them directly to the Accounts Office. Thank you to everyone who took part in this reading challenge!
Introducing Ms Lydia
Over the last few months, you might have noticed a new face in KS1 as children in Y1 and Y2 have been getting to know Ms Lydia. We have been lucky to have Ms Lydia as part of our supply (cover) teacher team for a while. Lydia taught in London for 8 years and has had experience in FS3, Y1 and Y2, as well as being part of her school’s Senior Leadership Team. After working in Bahrain, she moved to Bangkok with her family.
Lydia has kindly agreed to start next academic year as a Y2 class teacher, covering Ms Maria’s maternity leave. This is great news for us as by then Lydia will know the staff and routines of the school, but more importantly, will know the children very well.
Please say hello to her next time you see her around.
