High School: We keep a clean and sustainable environment

It’s Year 6-9 Project Week at St Andrews International School Bangkok, with all the projects focused on sustainability a great fit with our new monthly theme, and we’re getting closer to the end of the school year.

It’s June, and we’re into the last four weeks of the school year, with a new monthly theme: “We keep a clean and sustainable environment.” This is an excellent fit with all the Year 6-9 Project Week projects that are focused on environmental sustainability, the beginning of the sale of a variety of products from Zero Waste Thailand, including straws, bags and water bottles, in the Snack Shop and Coffee Shop and another new initiative that I will tell you more about next week....

Class of 2019

040619 hs 2

On Saturday, we celebrated the Graduation of the Class of 2019. This was our tenth Graduation for students who have studied a Senior Studies Programme with the IB Diploma Programme at its heart, and it was a very special evening, with five students who joined the school in 2004 and more than half of the Year group who have been in the High School since Year 7. Many of these students, and those who have joined more recently, have made huge contributions to our Great St Andrews Community in their time at the school and we wish them all the best as they head off into the world as “responsible global citizens”, “inspired to be the best they can be”.

Graduation always signals that the end of the school year is approaching fast, and over the next few weeks we have many of our traditional end-of-year events, including the Sports Awards, EXPO 2019, our Awards Assemblies and the House Music Competition, before we end the school year with an Assembly on the morning of Wednesday 26 June.

Expo 2019

040619 hs 3

EXPO19 will take place at the High School on the afternoon of Wednesday 19 June. This event is a celebration of student creativity in the Performing and Visual Arts Faculty and includes work from the Art, Dance, Drama and Music Departments. From 2.45 p.m. onwards there will be bands performing in the Atrium and an Art Exhibition on Floor 7 of the Blue Building, along with Dance performances in the Jo Adamson Theatre. Following on from this, at 3.15 p.m., there will be a selection of Drama pieces performed in the Theatre. The event will round off with a Concert starting at around 4:00 p.m. This will feature the Choir, the Jazz Band and the Bugsy Malone Cast and Orchestra as well as other items. The concert should end at approximately 5.00 p.m. We hope that parents will attend the EXPO and enjoy the array of student talent and creativity we have at STA.

I look forward to seeing you at these events over the next few weeks.
