Service Learning: Building on Service Week

Inspired by Service Week 2018-2019, many Year 13 students have extended their service engagement with a focus on raising much-needed funds for a foundation in Khon Kaen.

Service Week

In term 3 of the 2018-2019 school year, all of our Year 12 students participated in Service Week which provided an opportunity for students to engage with various organisations in Thailand to address particular community needs.

One group of St Andrews International School Bangkok students visited Baan Luk Rak children's home in Khon Kaen. Following this visit the students were motivated to extend their Service project beyond Service Week and looked for ways to continue to work with the children's home.  Some of the students involved in this project have written a summary of their fundraising efforts following this trip.

Last year, we (a group of Year 12 students) formed a committee to organise the annual prom event. With help from the Parent Teacher Group, we overcame the many trials and tribulations that come with organising such a large event - including a venue change - and we were proud to be able to host an Enchanted Evening for Years 10 to 13.

What we are more proud of, however, is to announce that we will be donating the profits made from the event to the Child Help Foundation in Khon Kaen. The foundation works to improve the lives of children across the world by providing education, emergency health support and sanitation and hygiene support amongst other things. We hope that the 21,060 baht we are donating will help change a child’s life somewhere, somehow.

Thank you and love to everybody who helped make this happen. STA Prom Committee 2019 ~ Aashish, Isabel, Kunika, Marwin, Muskaan, Natsuki, Nidhish, Rit, Saranya & Zakk
