High School: Staying safe

The STA health and safety measures will help us stay prepared and informed. The Yr11 IB Diploma information evening will be recorded and is a great way to find out more about the programme. It’s going to be a busy week with the Halloween Carnival, BISAC Tournaments, Parent Social Media workshop and Loy Krathong celebrations.

I hope that you all had a relaxing Chulalongkorn Day long weekend.

Health and Travel Declaration

We emailed all parents yesterday afternoon asking you to update your travel information on the STA Health and Travel Declaration Form, linked on your Moodle Parent Homepage as shown below, following both half-term and the long weekend.

Last week we also rolled-out student diaries, following a pilot with Senior Studies students, to meet the MOE/OPEC requirement for our students to take daily notes that would allow tracking and tracing of any individuals in the event of a COVID-19 case in our community. As Paul says in his Head’s Lines, please contact your son/daughter's Head of Year if you would like to make alternative arrangements for this.

Upcoming Events
We now have six full weeks ahead of us as we head towards our Christmas Fair and Concerts and the end of term.

While we are continuing to hold this term’s Parent/Student/Teacher Meetings and Parents’ Information Evenings online and would like to thank you all again for your cooperation with our policy of only admitting parents with appointments to the High School during the first half of term, we are already planning how we will be able to invite parents into school for these Christmas events.

There are also a number of opportunities for parents to come into school this week, as we continue to aim to keep the students’ school lives as (new) normal as possible.

Tuesday’s IB Diploma Programme Information Evening will be online. This event will be streamed live for parents of students in Year 11, but we will also share the link to the recorded presentation with all parents shortly, as we know that many parents of younger students would also like to know more about the IB Diploma Programme.

Thursday’s Social Media and Your Teen Workshop will take place in school - please see the poster below for more details and email Ms Amy (amy.bo@standrews.ac.th) to reserve your place.

This week we are also hosting a number of basketball, football and volleyball fixtures, including a BISAC basketball tournament this weekend. Parents of those students representing the school are very welcome to come and support - please see the communications from your son or daughter’s coach for details.

Friday’s Loy Krathong Assemblies will be each watched by one Year Group live, and we will share the links with parents to watch online.

Also on Friday, we have our annual Halloween Carnival, as always organised by our Year 12 students, with proceeds supporting one of our Service partners. This year, like last year, any profit from the Halloween Carnival will be donated to Seeway Tanzania, who many of our students have worked with on their NAE Global Campus Expeditions.

Please can parents of those students attending the Halloween Carnival ensure both that their son/daughter leaves school between the end of school and the beginning of the Halloween Carnival at 6pm, and that they are collected promptly at 9pm.

Flu Vaccination Programme

Many of you will know that for a number of years, we have been hosting a Flu Vaccination Programme for our school community. Last year, we were pleased to report that over 500 people in our school community received the flu vaccination in school - 221 STA staff and 228 students and parents.

This year’s Flu Vaccination Programme will be held on Friday 27th November from 1 pm to 4 pm in the Primary School’s Drama Studio. The programme, in collaboration with Samitivej Hospital, will be open to all members of the family at a price of 590 baht per shot.

How to register

The programme is popular, and this year we anticipate will be even more so. To make sure we have ordered enough vaccines please complete the form below to register. A form must be completed for each person who is to receive the vaccine.

With parental consent, High School students may take the shuttle bus to Primary at 2:30 pm to receive their vaccination independently.

Please remember that all the school's Google Calendars can be seen via Moodle: calendar.standrews.ac.th
