Foundation Stage & Key Stage 1: Putting our talents to good use

Students put on a display of their talents for Busking Week...Last Friday’s EAL Workshop shared some valuable tips to help students new to English...An update concerning the live air quality data at STA appearing on the Air Visual app.

Well Done Everyone for Another Successful Busking Week

Not every county has a culture of busking or street entertainment, but at St Andrews last week the children had a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a week of busking. There was a fun atmosphere every morning and break-time as the children made their way over to the quad to see what was going on. We had jugglers, musicians and dancers - to name but a few.

A ‘Thank You’ to Ms Alice and Ms Marie for organising the event and to the talented students and teachers who raised money for the House Charities.

A Great Turn-Out for the Primary EAL Workshop

At St Andrews we have a complex programme of support for children who are new to English. Last Friday was an opportunity for the parents of these children to come together and find out more about the EAL Programme and how parents can support their children at home.

Mr Phil and Ms Ann from the EAL Team presented key information to and audience of Y1-Y3 parents.

Air Visual - Important information

Several parents have been contacting the school to inform us that there seems to be an issue with the primary school monitoring data. Recently, we switched the device which we use to broadcast as we recognised that there was a discrepancy between the data produced by this and the data from other devices in the local area. It appears that some of you are still seeing the data from the old device within the app (currently showing an AQI reading of 27). Please try refreshing the app to display the new data. We have contacted Air Visual to help with this issue. Until they have fixed it, please use the readings on Moodle which shows the live data from our broadcasting devices on both the Primary and High School Campuses.

KS1 & KS2 School Councillors

Last Friday, Ms Selina - our Wellbeing Coordinator - led the assemblies in which our new school councillors were revealed. Over the remainder of the year, the two councils will meet to discuss ideas on how we can continue to improve student wellbeing as well as enabling all students to have a voice. Well done to everyone who stood for election to the councils. They all did a fantastic job of outlining their suitability for the role - it’s never easy standing in front of your peers, but they were all confident and clear. Each councillor was presented with a special badge to wear.
