Meet the Year Group and Meet the Teacher
Usually, at this time of year, we have two in-school events to help you and your child settle into the new school year: ‘Meet the Year Group’ and ‘Meet the Teacher’. In light of what’s been going on, this year we will be hosting our Meet the Year Group sessions virtually. On Thursday 27th, you will receive a video of the presentation that the teachers would normally run for the year group’s parents. In this, there will be a link to a site in which you can post any questions. The teachers will then review these and produce an FAQs document for the year group.
Our Meet the Teacher sessions are short (approx. 10 minute) meetings in which you can meet your child’s teacher and share any relevant information with them. These meetings are different from the parent consultations which occur later in the year. With it being so early in the year, the teachers will not be focusing specifically on children’s progress - this is more of a chance to touch base with them.
- These meetings will be offered in-person or virtually through Google Meet.
- They will take place over the next few weeks.
- The teachers will individually be in touch soon with sign up details for these.
Shuttle Bus Service
In KS2, we recognise that the children are becoming more independent. Because of this, we allow children in Y4 to Y6 to take the shuttle bus by themselves in the afternoon. For the first term, Year 3 should be accompanied by an adult on the bus. All children who travel by themselves on the bus must be met at the destination - Gateway, High School or MaxValu - by a responsible adult or older sibling.
If you would like your Y4 to Y6 child to travel by themself, please complete the Google form link below so that we can pass this information on to both our transport team and our security team:

Environment and Sustainability
On realising that so many of our STA families were travelling to Thailand's beautiful beaches over the summer, we decided to launch our first-ever “STA Beach Cleanup” House competition. We felt that this would be the perfect opportunity to encourage our students and their families to be proactive in helping to pick up the rubbish that finds its way into our waterways and onto our beaches.
Our amazing STA families collected and removed over 10,000 pieces of rubbish, and we would like to thank each and every one of them for their great effort! Freddie and Hugo Sheppard alongside their parents joined the Banyan Tree Beach clean up, where their collective efforts helped remove 350 kilograms of rubbish from a beach in Phuket. The boys secured a win for Lahu by picking up over 4,500 pieces of rubbish between them. Well done boys! In 2nd place, we have Karen, followed by Akha in 3rd. We look forward to seeing lots more Environment and Sustainability Projects as we move into the new year.
