High School: Our thriving Creative Arts

The creative arts are well and truly back! We have already had some magnificent IB Theatre solo pieces. And, still to come are the IB collaborative theatre pieces, IGSCE and IB music recitals, art exhibitions and our first ever Dance Showcase. Also, we have a Thailand themed University Update.

The Arts

After a week with Activities back, it is great to see other events from our fantastic Creative and Performing Arts Faculty re-appearing on the Calendar after half-term.

After last week’s Year 12 IB Theatre Arts Solo Performance Pieces, on Wednesday this week our Year 12 IB Theatre Arts students will perform their Collaborative piece. Soon after half-term we have the IGCSE / IBDP Music Re:Cital.

While, due to our current physical distancing measures, these performances are only for limited, invited audiences, we have a number of larger Arts events later during the second half of term, with Exhibitions from both our Year 13 IB Visual Arts students and our Year 11 GCSE Art and Photography students, our annual Working Title event, which showcases some of the highlights of the year in Drama and our first ever Dance Showcase.

As you can see from the Calendar below, we have timed these events to coincide, so that the audiences for our Drama and Dance showcases will also be able to visit our IB Visual Arts students and our Year 11 GCSE Art and Photography students exhibitions, and I look forward to celebrating our students’ excellent work in Music, Art, Drama and Dance with you after half-term.

Universities Update

In previous week’s University Updates we have celebrated a number of students planning to study at universities around the world, with Year 13 students having now received offers and acceptances from universities in 10 different countries: Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Thailand, the UK and the US.

This week we congratulate five students who plan to stay here in Bangkok, and who have recently received offers from Chulalongkorn University and Mahidol University, two of Thailand’s best universities.

Congratulations to Prim and Tripti who have both been accepted onto the Joint International Psychology Programme (JIPP) at Chulalongkorn University and Ing, Vigu and Matrix who have all been accepted by Mahidol University. Ing has been accepted to study both Biomedical Engineering and Medicine and Management, Vigu has been accepted to study Actuarial Science and Matrix, from last year’s Graduating Class, has also been accepted to study Biomedical Engineering.

Universities Update

You can see more about this year’s, and previous year’s, University Offers and Acceptances on our website.

This half-term has flown by, and I cannot believe that it is half-term next week. Thank you for all your support through the three weeks of the VSE and as we have returned to school, and I hope that you all have a safe, physically distanced, relaxing and enjoyable week. Please make sure that, if you leave Bangkok during half-term, you submit an updated Health and Travel Declaration Form before we return to school on Monday 1st March.
