Year 6 Debate: Are you for or against driverless cars?

As most of you will be aware, our ‘Street Smarts’ STEAM project for this term has involved studying the future of driverless cars. We’ve made a concerted effort to incorporate this theme across the curriculum.

  • Arguing for or against driverless cars
  • Struggle for an undecided voter
  • Children's posters

In English we have been debating the arguments for and against using driverless cars.  All were able to see the ethical and economic implications and make their case for or against this form of technology.

The pupils articulated their views by designing a number of posters with dramatic headings. I was impressed by the depth of their arguments and use of emotive language. In the end the Eagles voted 60:40 against using driverless cars.
