Exploring Rocks!

This week the Year 3 children started their new Science unit ‘Rocks and Soils’.

For our first lesson the children worked collaboratively to match the rock type to its description using their connection finding skills. The children learnt the names of rocks and started to explore their properties and uses.

As part of our topic involves exploring volcanoes this term, the children were particularly interested to explore the Pumice rock learning that it is formed during explosive volcanic eruptions!
