We made dioramas!

Year 2 has used many of their ‘Be Ambitious’ skills to create dioramas this week. As our topic this term is Dungeons and Dragons we have explored castles, dungeons and (of course) dragons. Utilizing their new ‘Imaginative Thinking’ skills, the classes demonstrated their flair for creativity by first designing a room in a castle. Did you know that the children in Year 2 can tell you what a Motte and Bailey castle is?

Later, they moved onto ‘Thinking in Different Ways’ and turned their flat 2-D drawings into 3-D masterpieces. Using materials, they found around the classroom, in the Art room and from the Maker Space room, Year 2 created fantastic miniature rooms which resemble rooms you might find in a 10th-century castle. Did you know that Year 2 have learned all about the Battle of Hastings? Can you spot a portrait of William the Conqueror in any of their dioramas?
