Indeed, this is why the EYFS curriculum stipulates Personal Social and Emotional Development as one of the Prime Areas of learning. The Prime Areas are the building blocks of early education and form strong foundations to build on as children move into more formal education.
This week in Nursery we have had a huge focus on nurturing the children’s confidence and social skills through our engaging activities linked to Book Week. On Tuesday the older boys and girls came to visit the Nursery children and became their ‘Reading Buddies’. Not only did this help everyone to support their pre reading skills but it was also a great opportunity for all to develop their confidence with unfamiliar children in a different social situation. We are so proud of all the children for embracing this special Storytime together and we would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to our Year 5 and Year 6 friends for being so kind, caring and responsible!
Another important aspect of childhood development is recognising and celebrating special times with family and friends. We enjoyed more Book Week celebrations with our wonderful Nursery parents on Wednesday when we shared a Stay and Play event together. Everyone showed off their confidence skills as they sang along to Nursery Rhymes and shared lots of very special activities with their grown-ups!
