I hope this message finds you and your families well.
As you will be aware, we still do not have a reopening date I'm afraid, so no news on that front. Of course, as soon as we know, you will be informed straight away. I am sure that you have been following the international news and as the virus spreads around the world, travel back to China is becoming more difficult. The 14-day quarantine period is now strictly enforced with additional requirements being placed upon travellers from countries where there are high numbers of infections. This list of countries is growing as the virus spreads. As I write, we are trying to confirm the updated list which in some areas of China now include the US, Germany and France. As we gain confirmation we will keep you informed. For people who come from these countries increased screening is being carried out.

In addition, it will now be necessary for families to inform school of their plans to return three days ahead of their expected return date with their flight details and home address. This is so that these persons can be reported to the Local Education Committee and the Chaoyang Area Government as we are now required to do. It is certainly the case in China that the external threats of importing the virus back into the country are being taken very seriously indeed.
The link below will take you to a survey requesting the information we are required to provide. I would ask that any returning student and their returning family members complete this form and click the blue 'submit' button. This form must be submitted at least three days before the expected date of arrival in Beijing. The school in turn will provide the authorities with a daily update and this information you provide will help significantly in speeding up your process of immigration at the airport. If a student family returns and this information is missing, then the authorities are likely to hold passengers at the airport until this information has been collected.

this survey 3 days before your departure from overseas back to Beijing.
Spring Break 30 March - 3 April
The above information is particularly pertinent at this time as we have the scheduled Spring break approaching. As it is now only two weeks away we propose that the break stays where it is. Following much discussion about this it is definitely the consensus of opinion that all would benefit from a break. Students, parents and staff have been working very hard throughout the last 6 weeks of e-learning and by the time we reach the 30th March it will have been 8 weeks. We are also aware that many of our community have planned activities and events during this week and as it is virtually guaranteed that we will not have opened by this time, there seems little enthusiasm or indeed benefit to moving the break. Please be aware that if you leave Beijing during the holiday period, all the quarantine arrangements will apply to you upon your return. I hope this will give clarity to all.
Finally, my thanks to those of you who have completed the recent survey regarding making up lost teaching time. We are
analyzing this data and will update parents about this in due course.
I wish you and your family continued good health during this time.
With my best wishes,
