Chris developed a passion for education whilst in South Korea teaching English after graduating from university. He spent eight years teaching Mathematics in an outstanding local community school in Lancashire. During this time, he took on a number of roles including pastoral and departmental leadership positions and House Coordinator. Since 2015, he has been teaching in innovative and forward-thinking International schools in both Malaysia and Vietnam, where he led the Mathematics and STEAM departments.
Chris believes that every student possesses the resilience and the passion to thrive in the Mathematics classroom and achieve their ambitions and goals. He aims to unlock their potential by creating learning experiences that are challenging, authentic and relatable, with a focus on problem-solving. He has a particular enthusiasm for the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) not only because of their increasing importance in today’s world, but by being able to share the joy and beauty within their study.
Chris has a great love of travel and he is looking forward to exploring the green spaces of Budapest with his wife and two young sons. He is also a dedicated multi-sports athlete, competing in marathon, duathlon and triathlon events around the world. He has recently raced in two Ironman 70.3 World Championships and he is eager to inspire budding triathletes of the future whilst at BISB. He has a variety of other interests such as Russian literature, the history of football and is somewhat of a Dylanologist.
