Jon graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2004 with an honours degree in chemistry. He first started teaching whilst training to teach English as a foreign language in Kuala Lumpur and liked it so much that he went on to do a post-graduate teaching qualification in secondary science at the Institute of Education, London. After five years of making a big impact in an inner-city London school, Jon left for an exciting new challenge at the British International School in Shanghai where he enjoyed five successful years before joining us here at BISB.
Jon joined NAE in Shanghai in 2011 where as well as being a science teacher specialising in chemistry, he served as a Head of Year and IB Diploma Programme Coordinator, before moving to BISB as a science teacher in 2016.
Jon believes that an excellent education for all plays an essential part in any liberal and enlightened society. Science education, in particular, enables us to think clearly about the world we find ourselves in, solve the problems that we face and improve our lives.
Ambition is a driving force in education. Jon always encourages his students to be ambitious for themselves and others, not just in science and school, but in life.
In his spare time, Jon enjoys many things including travelling the world, learning Chinese, film photography, golf and staying abreast of current affairs. Most of all he loves spending time with his wife and daughter.
