Ben started his teaching career in Bangkok, Thailand after working in the catering industry as a restaurant manager for thirteen years. His first post was in a small, independently owned language school, teaching English as an additional language. During his time in Thailand, Ben taught a wide range of English language subjects to adults and children. In his last two years in Bangkok, he focused mainly on IELTS test preparation for teenagers hoping to attend UK universities.
Ben joined BISB in 2013 after working for one year as a language teacher in Budapest. He began as a learning assistant with Year 5 children. He also taught English to Key Stage 2 students, working mainly with Year 3 and Year 5 students. After this first year, he was promoted to work full time in the primary EAL department working across all year groups in KS2.
Ben is fully committed to making sure all students from diverse cultural backgrounds in his classes obtain high quality and relevant language acquisition. He is especially passionate about the use of technology for helping students acquire high quality language, for them to achieve their ambitions and to give them the best possible opportunities for their futures.
In his spare time, Ben enjoys listening to and playing music, specifically as a DJ. He plays at a number of venues in the city as well as for school functions. He still has an interest in art and tries to paint or create as much as possible.
