We are happy to announce a new reading club for parents and young children in the Rayyan Library.
'Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader'
The purpose of the club is to encourage our younger family members, who are not yet at school, to listen to stories and develop an interest in reading. The stories will be for toddlers with sessions in Arabic and English. They will take place on Mondays (English) and Thursdays (Arabic) from 1:00-1:30 pm in the library. We look forward to seeing the children immerse themselves in the world of books. We hope you can join us.
On Thursday, 30 November, our House Leaders and House Captains led a house assembly to celebrate the positive behaviour for learning in their teams. Children who had gained most Class Dojo points for their house were awarded a House Certificate. There is much competition between them so we are looking forward to finding out which house has most points this term.
This term, Year 6 at Rayyan have started their new IPC project – 'Extreme Survivors.' As part of their entry point, the children have been' shipwrecked' on a desert island; worked out what they would need to take on a desert exploration trip using the ‘Diamond 9” activity and have played the survival game as well as contributing to the knowledge harvest. Their learning has taken them to the bottom of the Mariana Trench – one of the deepest parts of the Pacific Ocean - and they have learned about some of the fascinating creatures who live there. As part of developing research skills, the children have also investigated mountain wildlife and classified their findings into plants, mammals, birds, arachnids and amphibians. (see photos below)
With the cooler weather, more of our children are going on educational visits to enhance their IPC knowledge skills and understanding. We have Early Years visiting the beach at the Four Seasons Hotel Doha and Year 1 visiting the Sheikh Faisal Museum this week.
On Thursday, 7 December, Mrs Lerche will lead a music assembly for children of all ages, to focus on the skills they have learned this term whilst learning through the Juilliard Curriculum. This is one of the highlights of the year and it is always lovely to hear how the children’s skills have developed.

These are applications that the children have used previously in school. Once they have completed their games, which they can develop at home, they should send them to firstname.lastname@example.org">email@example.com.
