Oliver! The Musical, our Year 3 to Year 6 2017 Production was superb!
Thank you to all the parents, children and grandparents who attended our evening performances of Oliver! The Musical. It was an absolute joy to see the unique potential of our Gharaffa children. Every child on the stage remained in role from start to finish, portraying some highly believable characters. The acting, singing and dancing were fantastic. The children exuded confidence and not one single line was forgotten. The show was so good that some parents attended both evenings. I would like to thank all the staff involved in the creation of this production, especially Mr Francis Higgins and Ms Sarah Watt for directing one of the best Primary School plays I have ever seen. Please visit our website for photo gallery.
Following today’s celebration assembly, our PE Department held a Staff versus Students Rounders match. All the children had the opportunity to watch this event and cheer on the Year 6 students. It was a wonderful way to end a very long term. This event has certainly reminded me that I need to attend the gym a little more frequently.
In the lead up to Ramadan we will be hosting many school events. Please remember that ECAs will resume on Sunday, 30 April. Children will remain in their current ECA group as all after school activities will end before Ramadan. Therefore ECAs will only be running for a total of 4 weeks.
On Friday, 28 April, our Dutch community will be celebrating King’s Day at Gharaffa. Monica Mansveld, our Dutch Coordinator, will be sending out further information.
This week, you will have received a letter from our Friends of Compass Team informing parents about our forthcoming Blanket Sale, where children from Year 1 to Year 6 will have the opportunity to hold their own mini car boot sale over the dates of 7, 8, and 9 May. The sale will be held after school and all parents and children are welcome to attend. Please refer to Tuesday’s letter for more information.
Also next term, our Friends of Compass will be holding a Health and Fitness Coffee Morning on Tuesday, 23 May. The day will open up with 15 minutes of exercise followed by parents having the opportunity to find out more about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and given ideas about the contents of a healthy lunchbox. Your Class Representative will contact all parents in the next few weeks with further information.
Following the Parent Survey, our team has created a plan, which I will share with you in the not too distant future. If you do have any further thoughts, please let me know.
I would like to end the term by thanking all parents who have welcomed me into my new position at Compass International School Doha, Gharaffa. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first term at the school and look forward to getting to know all children and parents better next term.
