Lower School Experiences Experiential Learning Opportunities through our Field Trips

Our Lower School students will experience several experiential learning opportunities throughout the year.  Several of these involve us taking students off-campus and some will involve bringing presenters in-house. Research has shown that we retain 75% of what we do compared to 5% of what we hear or 10% of what we read. The value in giving our students these types of experiences is exponential in the learning process. Allowing our students to be fully engaged and have a hands-on approach to exploring the content is highly effective in the learning process.  The act of experiencing, observing, analyzing, and experimenting are powerful tools that allow children to personalize the learning. Our field trip experiences connect class lessons to the real world and encourage our students to see the world as a learning environment. Many of our field trips are to familiar places, but with specialized guidance and directed purpose, these familiar entertainment venues become a wonderful extension of our classrooms.  ~ Melissa Fagan, Lower School Director
