Ms. Miller’s PreK4 class has been working on increasing productivity by building each other up emotionally through kindness activities. Last week they did a phenomenal job and the change in the classroom environment was PALPABLE following the exercise.
All of their names were placed in a bowl. The first child came up, picked one name, and it was their job to say something nice about that person. It was then that person's turn to come up and pick a name. They went through every child and some of the responses brought tears to the eyes of the teachers.
Center time was right after this activity and the students were kind, they shared toys, they worked together...most importantly the language they were using with one another was so positive. Ms. Miller plans to continue doing this once a week in hopes that it becomes intrinsic for them to build each other up on a regular basis. If you need some happy for the day...this is it! ~ Melissa Fagan, Lower School Director
