ResLife Weekly Updates

While the COVID-19 pandemic has certainly caused a lot of disruption and anxiety around the world, it has also demonstrated the awesome power of family...the WPS ResLife Family.  When students were locked down at the dorms in the Spring, we were able to live in the safety of the ResLife Village, keeping everyone not only safe and away from exposure but also able to interact and socialize with staff and students without worry.  Our quarantine home of 30+ kids and 13 staff families enjoyed our eutopic bubble and really got to know each other well.  As the summer came and some students returned home, a few stayed at the dorms.  This small crew continued to experience the family atmosphere and enjoyed the personal attention.  And now, as we are starting the new school year and have students scattered around the globe, including the 14 here at the dorms, we still are finding ways to remain as a family.  Zoom calls, group messages, and check-ins allow us to keep our students, no matter where they are, close to us.  Like everyone in the world, we are learning new ways to connect, to deliver the ResLife Experience, and to support those in our ResLife Family.  While WPS has always put family first, in ResLife, it is the heart of what we do, so there is no obstacle, no challenge, and not even a pandemic that can stop us from keeping our family together.  And while we are certainly looking forward to having some of these restrictions lifted so we can all, physically, be together, we are actually finding new, personal ways to connect to students and develop those familial bonds that will bring success to all. ~ Dean Topodas, Director of Residential Life
