Staff Profile: Ms. C. Day

Miss C. Day

Head of Year 2 & 2D Class Teacher

Miss Day studied BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies and worked as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant before completing her PGCE at Bath Spa University, specialising in Early Years and Key Stage One. Since qualifying, she has taught in a London primary school in Year 3. She led literacy planning within her year group across a collaboration of 5 federated schools.

Before joining NAIS, I had been part of a new programme of study for Year 5 children called ‘Global Scholars’. The programme develops children’s awareness of global issues and sustainability. This has involved communication and collaboration with schools around the world and led to our own ‘Community Action Project’ in the local area. Working across a large group of schools has enabled me to develop my practice and expertise in a variety of areas, drawing on knowledge from experienced colleagues. I am always keen to collaborate with and learn from others, sharing ideas to develop exciting and effective ways to teach.

In my classroom, I endeavor to create a calm and welcoming learning environment where children can take risks, acquire new skills and develop in confidence. I enjoy active lessons where children can explore their learning in fun and meaningful ways, such as using drama and role play. I am passionate about providing an inclusive and challenging curriculum accessible and enjoyable to all children. I believe that children who feel happy in class will be intrinsically motivated to learn. Philosophical enquiries have played a key part in supporting children to develop critical thinking skills and build confidence in sharing their ideas and opinions, which is a vital tool for further progression.
