Year 1 Class Teacher: D - Doves

Miss McElevey joins NAIS from Surrey, UK with a BA Hons in Primary Education from St Mary’s University Twickenham. Before moving to Hong Kong she taught in the UK for 4 years in both Key Stage 1 and 2, holding positions of responsibility as Math’s Coordinator and Forest School Leader. Keen to progress her career further and give herself a new challenge, she accepted a position at an international school in Beijing, China where she taught both year 2 and 3. Her committed approach enabled her to take on the role of Literacy and Phonics Coordinator and Student Council Teacher Representative to name a few.

Running Forest Schools highlighted my ethos in enabling children to become independent, curious learners by providing relevant practical experiences. I found children learn best when they are engaged and interested.

I am really looking forward to returning to Year 2 where my enthusiasm in the classroom will enable fun, engaging and stimulating learning to take place. I love that ‘light bulb', moment when a child grasps a difficult concept and you can see the sense of achievement on their face.

Outside of the classroom you will find me at the beach soaking up the rays, at the gym or scuba diving. I consider myself a globe trotter having recently spent a year exploring Australia, which has led to my new found love of coffee, surfing and brunch.
