Mr Barney holds a first-class degree in Primary Education from the University of Plymouth and during his time there he developed a passion for teaching students from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures. This was triggered first by setting up an EAL ECA at a local school for new refugee arrivals into the UK and later by volunteering at schools in the Czech Republic, Ghana and Morocco.
Mr Barney taught across the Primary Curriculum in the UK for 3 years and worked part time as an Educational Consultant before moving to a Nord Anglia school in Hanoi where he taught for 4 years. During his time there, he became Head of Science and STEAM and spent a week at MIT as part of our Nord Anglia collaboration. Drawing from his experience there, Mr Barney loves to integrate project based learning approaches into his teaching.
In his spare time Mr Barney persues an outdoors lifestyle and in his holidays he can often be found mountaineering and on motorbike tours in the Himalayas or exploring South East Asia.
