Mr Willshaw completed his PhD in Physics at the University of Manchester, UK in 2012. An enthusiastic communicator of scientific ideas, he completed Postgraduate Certificate in Education at the University of Sunderland, UK in 2016 and has since been teaching internationally in mainland China and Hong Kong.
Mr Willshaw is a passionate Science teacher who has had a keen interest in education since his own time at high school in Edinburgh, Scotland. A keen believer that students learn best through doing, he using simulations and creative projects to help students understand the power of science in understanding how the world works. He also loves running cross-curricular activities such as the STEAM projects developed in collaboration with MIT.
Outside of teaching, Mr Willshaw enjoys studying languages, speaking fluent German and Mandarin. He also takes part in athletic competitions, most recently the Beijing Olympic Triathlon. Mr Willshaws also makes use of his scientific brain by experimenting in the kitchen and trying to recreate the dishes he has had the good fortune to try on his travels around the globe.
