We’d love to know more about your baking hobby!
Baking is quite a science, and that is what I like most about it. It’s just so interesting to see everything come together to make such an interesting product. It’s great to know exactly what is going into the food that you are eating. It takes time and patience, and things sometimes go wrong, but baked goods are such a beautiful product and such an amazing craft. When I bake, the majority of the time I spend on a creation is waiting and cleaning- waiting for something to bake, waiting for something to set, waiting for bread dough to rise. It can take 1-4 days altogether, but most of that time is waiting. But, being a young baker is great because I have time.
What’s your favorite thing to bake?
My favorite thing that I’ve ever baked is probably just a classic sponge cake. There are so many components and different ways to present a sponge cake that are essential to the cake to turn out successfully. From the sponge to the frosting, sponge cakes take time, but they are absolutely beautiful when built right.
What subjects do you enjoy most at Village?
At Village, I am involved in a lot of art classes. I absolutely love art, and I think my art skills help with my baking. I’m in two art classes right now: art, and art car. I like art for sketching my ideas and letting my mind just spill onto the paper, but art car is more structural design.
What do you hope to pursue next?
When I get older, I definitely want to do something to do with art. I’m really interested in architecture and interior design. Although I do want to keep up with my baking business, I’ve wanted to become an architect for as long as I can remember. But for now, I think having a small baking business is a perfect activity to do during these times.
What do you love most about baking?
Giving something that you're proud of to someone is just an indescribable feeling, it’s amazing. I think everyone should try to bake, whether you are good at it or not. I think it brings so much joy to you and others, and it is perfect to do with a friend.
