International Schools Theatre Association Workshop

Ten DP Theatre Arts students attended an excellent theatre arts programme symposium (TaPS) in London from the 29th of September to the 2nd of October.

International Schools Theatre Association Workshop DP Theatre Arts September 2019

The students actively participated in a rigorous three-day training workshop that gives students of IB Diploma Theatre the perfect opportunity to authentically engage with their course requirements.

They explored world theatre practices through a series of outstanding masterclasses. This year the classes were led by Gecko (an internationally acclaimed physical theatre company) and Jo Riley, former Shanghai Kunju Theatre performer who introduced the students to Bazigong (Chinese stage fighting).

The event allowed students to connect and collaborate with IB Theatre students from around the world.  They also attended groundbreaking performances of “Midsummer Nights” Dream at the Globe Theatre, “Come From Away” (New York Times Critics for best new musical) and Mischief Theatre’s new production of “Groan Ups”. The trip was a wonderful opportunity for our students to collaboratively create theatre, as well as study theory and theorists whilst relating everything back to the curriculum.
