    Laura Rafael

    Director of Modern Foreign Languages (Secondary Spanish)

    Laura Rafael

    Dr Rafael is joining BSY in August 2018. In her previous role, she was Head of Languages at a school on the outskirts of London. Laura is particularly interested in educational research around ‘high performance learning’ and how to guide students to grow their own intelligence.

    Louise Wright

    6A Teacher (Assessment & Standards Leader)

    Louise Wright

    Ms Wright has taught in New Zealand, England, Qatar and Yangon during her 25 year career. Most of her teaching has been in Key Stage 2 and 3. She has a strong interest in literacy and the arts and believes in integrating subjects as much as possible in order for deeper learning to take place.

    Mr Ferrandino is joining us from Bangkok where he has been teaching for the last seven years; before that he was teaching in London. He speaks Italian and English, takes a particularly interest in STEM and enjoys running ASCs in football and film as they are a few of the many things which interest him.

    KS 3 Leader & Computer Science and Business Studies Teacher

    James Hill

     

    Mr Hill is delighted to be returning to BSY this year in his new role as Key Stage 3 Leader, whilst still teaching his core subjects, Computer Science and Business Studies. Drawing on experience from his previous career Mr Hill is also the Schools’ Fire Marshal, guiding BSY on the best fire safety procedures.

    After an impressive 11 years service in the London Fire Brigade Mr Hill retrained as a teacher to fulfil a life-long goal, gaining his BSc (Hons) Business Information System at Leeds Metropolitan University, and further PGCE in Computing at the University of East London. His first teaching post was at (School) on the outskirts of London. Mr Hill is in Yangon with his wife, Dr Rafael (Assistant Head of Secondary) and their young son, Alex who is in Reception.

    Joshua Mycroft

    Mr Mycroft joins BSY straight from the UK, where he taught PE at Shepshed High School in Derby.

    He brings with him a passion for educational research in how cognitive science and instructional models affect teaching, learning and assessment. Mr Mycroft is a strong leader and believes that every child should be challenged to exceed their individual potential, and so is keen to develop and reflect this through the KS5 curriculum, university applications and career guidance for our senior students.
