Each IPC unit begins with an Entry Point to spark curiosity and ends with an Exit Point where students proudly showcase what they have discovered. Along the way, they engage in hands on investigations, collaborative projects, and reflective discussions that build both knowledge and skills.
Our Year 1 students recently set sail on a pirate adventure, transforming into pirates for an afternoon of fun and discovery with parents joining the crew. The journey began with a lively quiz before tackling five exciting challenges: making pirate music, creating a coin, completing a continent map, designing a bird’s eye view, and building a compass. Each challenge showed creativity, teamwork, and plenty of pirate spirit — and luckily, no one had to walk the plank!
Meanwhile, Year 3 students concluded their unit on sound and light with an impressive Exit Point. They struck tuning forks and placed them in water to reveal ripples experimenting the clear evidence that sound travels as waves. They also measured noise levels around the school with decibel meters, linking their findings to discussions on noise pollution and how excessive sound affects people, animals, and concentration. Their reflections extended to light pollution, where they explained how too much artificial light impacts sleep cycles, wildlife, and our view of the night sky.
These examples highlight how IPC empowers students to connect classroom learning with real world issues. Whether it’s Year 1 discovering how senses shape our experiences or Year 3 tackling global challenges like pollution, our children are developing curiosity, confidence, and a growing sense of responsibility for the world around them.
At BSY, IPC acts as a journey that nurtures our students into global citizens who think critically, act responsibly, and embrace learning with enthusiasm.
