Mandarin Teacher

Lydia earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Management from the Shanxi University of Finance and Economics in 2014. And then she came to Manila studying at ESM (Emanuel School of Mission). After graduating from ESM, she decided to live in Manila and started to teach Mandarin at a Chinese-Filipino school since 2015. She was also one of the Homeroom Teachers in Gr. 3. Almost at the same time, she chose to study Educational Leadership and Management at De La Salle University. She still manages to get her master degree so far.

I would like to help students learn by creating lessons that touch on each individual students’ learning style. All of my students will always have daily opportunities to construct meaning on their own. I always praise students and tell them that they can do anything when they put their mind to it. Additionally, I would like to build great relationships with students. Knowing their backgrounds allows me to understand their strengths, weaknesses and interests in certain areas.

In my opinion, learning a foreign language is learning a different way of thinking and using different words to express our thoughts. As a teacher, my goal is to help students become curious and passionate lifelong learners, and I hope that they will find as much joy in this journey of exploring as I did. That is why I spend lots of time exploring new teaching methods in Mandarin, so that I am able to effectively help them achieve academic success.

As for my hobbies, I enjoy reading, painting, listening to light music, playing Chinese traditional musical instruments and traveling.
